Waterfalls are iconic natural features from across the world that leave us in awe. Many of them are must-see landmarks with the most beautiful landscapes, vegetation, and exotic animals. It is estimated that there are nearly 8000 waterfalls, most of them listed in North America. Want to see breathtaking cascades and dream of them for years to come? Victoria Falls: Zimbabwe/Zambia

Located on the gorgeous African continent, Victoria Falls is as must-see as they come. Found on the Zambezi River between two countries, Zimbabwe and Zambia, this waterfall is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and you must see it in real life to understand why. Locally known as The Smoke that Thunders or Vic Falls for short, the rainy season is where it’s at. During the rainy season, you are likely to get soaking wet walking along its trail on the Zimbabwe side – this side has the best views.

If you want to get up close and personal with the waterfall, you need to go to the Zambian side to see this 328 feet deep waterfall. Here you can take a dip in Devil’s Pool. Angel Falls: Venezuela

It comes as no surprise that we feature South America on this list. The continent is rich in culture, wildlife, and insanely epic landmarks. Angel Falls drops just over the Auyán-tepui mountain in the Canaima National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It stands 3211 feet tall, and its longest drop is about 2624 feet deep. But it’s the beauty we are after.

Standing at 15 times higher than the world-famous Niagara Falls, Angel falls has dense jungle surrounding it, making it one of the most breathtaking spots on the planet – note that the views are better seen via helicopter or small charter plane. Dudhsagar Falls: India

When we think about India, we don’t immediately associate the country with waterfalls, but they do exist, and one, in particular, is a site for sore eyes. It is one of the country’s tallest and arguably one of the most impressive cascades. The waterfall cascades about 1000 feet and is roughly 100 feet wide. It’s been nicknamed The Sea of Milk because it creates the illusion of milk dropping into the Mandovi River below.

Located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park, Dudhsagar Falls is open to everyone willing to encapsulate themselves in nature. Earlier this year, the falls were closed to tourists due to the monsoon, and the government allowed animals to return to the space first. 

Yosemite Falls: the USA

Where do you find an iconic waterfall located in an equally iconic National Park? Well, only in the US. As the fifth highest waterfall in the world, Yosemite consists of three waterfalls with a drop of 2425 feet. The cascading water will leave you in awe. Plitvice Waterfalls: Croatia

Did you know that Plitvice Waterfalls is made up of 16 cascading lakes and is located in the Plitvice National Park?

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Plitvice has aqua waters and stunning lush greenery and spans about 30 000 hectares of the entire park. Exploring this national park and seeing the Plitvice Waterfalls is breathtaking.

Kawasan Falls: Philippines

This time we head over to Asia, the Philippines to be exact. Situated in the town of Badian on Cebu Island, Kawasan cascades into these turquoise waters that are to die for and a must-see! Featured on many travel influencers’ Instagram profiles, we completely understand why. Tukad Cepung Waterfall: Indonesia

Situated in the popular tourist location, Ubud in Bali, Tukad Cepung is otherworldly but effective. It is unique since the waterfall is found in a cave; yes, you read that correctly, it’s found in a cave. This break-your-neck to stare landmark can be accessed via a 15-minute hike which is not bad, and it makes it suitable for the entire family. While standing underneath the waterfall, the sun shines through, making it seem as though heaven can be found on Earth, and it’s located in Bali.
