Great Places to Visit in Nuremberg, Germany

Nuremberg is the second largest city in Bavaria after Munich. Its historical center, punctuated by Kaiserberg Castle, where German kings were once crowned by the Holy Roman Emperor, resembles setting foot in a fairy tale. Grab a table at a beer garden and enjoy traditional Nuremberg bratwurst. Their hometown pork sausages have maintained the same recipe since 1313. It’s easy to see why Albrecht Durer, one of Germany’s most famous Renaissance painters, was inspired by the picturesque setting of his hometown from 1471-1528.

Milton Hershey founded Hershey’s chocolate company in 1894. Today a town built on chocolate welcomes visitors from around the world to experience a place where streetlights are capped with Hershey kisses. Prior to visiting Hershey, we knew about the amusement park, Hersheypark, but were unfamiliar with other great activities this family destination has to offer.

Here are our recommendations for a 2-day itinerary in Hershey and Harrisburg. This area makes for a convenient weekend getaway from nearby cities like New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC (where we live), all of which are under a three-hour drive away.
