One year of blogging!

Wanderlust Marriage has just turned one! Alex and I are really excited to celebrate this milestone and want to thank all our readers from the bottom of our hearts for your support during our first year. To all our friends and family who came and visited the site before we were indexed and started turning up in the search engines, we love you and thank you. It was so exciting to see visits on the stats bar and read your comments. We would have been hard pressed to move forward without you. To the people we don’t know in “the real world”, who have subscribed, provided link backs and re-tweeted and Facebook liked our posts, thank you too. We’d especially like to give a shout out to the Tuscan at Any Latitude we love reading your comments, thank you for frequently providing an interesting conversation on our posts. Also to the website BarrelHopping who frequently tweeted to follow us as part of their “follow Friday tweets.” And to Bell’s Mum, as she has been the biggest cheerleader of the site in either of our families. Family support with an undertaking like this is massive. Alex knows his Dad would too but is 85 and loathes computers.

We’re not going to say it’s been an easy first year, there were days when we’d have 0 views, and it was heart breaking as we’d often spent the week working to write posts, tweet and maintain the site. Thankfully, those days are over and we’re enjoying see the traffic grow, even if it is still frustrating at times!

Before we started out, neither of us knew that much about setting up the code to have a “pretty site” and there were times we were pulling our hair out trying to fix something, and we’d like to thank some of our amazing html/css coding friends for their help.

We’d also like to thank Maike and Estela at only-apartments for the compliments on our blog and for providing us with a great 4 night complimentary stay in Krakow recently. We cannot tell you guys how excited we were to have your support!

But overall, it has been an amazing first year. Having a common project that Alex and I work on together has been really rewarding. This isn’t to say that we haven’t had disagreements over posts and settings, indeed there have been several tense moments, even some heated arguments. But looking through our photos for a post sometimes ends in an evening reminiscing about a particular trip, and after a stressful day at our day jobs that can be a much needed de-stressor. Also, it has helped to keep things in perspective as it is too easy to get caught up in daily stresses and forget about some of the amazing adventures we’ve had together.

So Alex and I would like to again say thank you and we’re looking forward to our second year blogging and hearing from you, our readers! Please let us know what you’d like us to write about at some point in the future or provide any constructive feedback to help us have a great 2nd year.

    1. Our pleasure Tuscan, thanks so much again for your support! We really enjoy reading your blog as well. It’s well written, you have great photos and bring up compelling issues. Well done as well!

    1. Thank you Marissa 🙂 Best of luck with being a new blogger and you have a nice looking site!

  4. Thank you Ann! I think you caught this update from our “Tweetly” feature on Twitter :)…Good question on deciding where to go next. For us it’s frequently based around work and spending extra time somewhere or visiting family and friends as they are scattered around. I have been wanting to go to Sicily for a few years but other cool things keep coming up…What about you and deciding your travel plans?? Great seeing you at TBEX btw! 🙂
