Maine is a beautiful destination featuring some of the country’s most rugged and pristine coastline. Forests, historic lighthouses, fresh lobster galore and delicious craft beer are in abundance. Maine is currently home to around 60 breweries, but since it’s generally not a good idea to drink and drive, we took Maine Brew Bus’ afternoon ‘Drinks About Town’ tour, where we visited two craft breweries and a mead distillery on a rainy Sunday (great timing). Lincoln, New Hampshire is a charming destination in the White Mountains. It is an idyllic setting for annual Ice Castles exhibitions, which has been taking place since 2014.
A highlight of living in Boston, or visiting the area, are fantastic day trips to destinations along the New Hampshire and Maine coast. As we live near downtown Boston and parking spaces are limited in our area of Allston, we choose not to own a car. We rely on public transport and when we need it, we rent cars from Zipcar either by the hour or by the day. These are some of our favorite Main and New Hampshire day trips from Boston!
