Melbourne: Highlights of the Sports and Arts Capital of Australia

Melbourne is the sports, arts and coffee capital of Australia. While Sydney’s harbor is more dramatically beautiful, Melbourne is the place to go for the nation’s biggest sporting events, fantastic museums, a great culinary scene, and Australia’s finest coffee culture. Bell went to university in Melbourne and we lived there together for a year. We recently re-visited family and friends and were rekindled with everything we love about one of the world’s most livable cities. So here are great things to do in Melbourne to help you plan a wonderful trip!

Fun Things to Do in New York City

New York City is one of the world’s most exciting cities, but it can also be extreme when it comes to food quality and general experiences. We previously lived in Boston, and currently reside in Washington, DC, so we’ve made many trips to New York City the past several years. New York is around four hours from Boston and Washington, DC by car, train or bus (though we never drive to NYC).

These are some of our favorite things we’ve done in NYC that we recommend for visitors. I’ve excluded discussing the most famous options, like bike ride or picnic in Central Park.

Tarpon Springs, Florida: A Local Guide

Just 30 miles northwest of Tampa, Tarpon Springs has the largest per capita Greek American population among USA destinations. Around 25% of over 29,000 Tarpon residents are of Greek descent. An abundance of excellent Greek restaurants, bakeries, fresh seafood, craft breweries, boutique shops, beach concerts and festivals makes Tarpon Springs a popular tourist draw – especially on weekends.

The Sponge Docks are also a great place to take a boat tour to nearby Anclote Key, for fishing, dolphin watching, or a small boat sunset cruise. This unique Florida Gulf Coast town offers a slice of the Mediterranean along Dodecanese Boulevard and Athens Street. Revitalized downtown Tarpon Springs is home to an additional wealth of excellent restaurants, a hip cocktail bar, wine bar and breweries among hip hangouts.
