Did you know that Hamburg, Germany has more bridge Did you know that Hamburg, Germany has more bridges than any other city in world? There are around 2,500 bridges in Germany’s second largest city. Surprisingly, that’s more bridges than Venice, Amsterdam and London combined!

Hamburg’s canals are dotted with chic restaurants and picturesque cafes. They’re especially enjoyable on warm sunny days, which Hamburg has more of these days due to climate change. Hamburg used to be a rainier city too, but it tends to be drier compared to past years.

Hamburg’s Speicherstadt is the largest warehouse district in the world. Predominantly brick buildings are nestled alongside the canals, standing atop timber-pile foundations and oak logs.

Have you visited Hamburg? If so, what were some of the highlights for you?

Resting along the Baltic Sea, Travelmunde is a pop Resting along the Baltic Sea, Travelmunde is a popular German seaside resort town. It’s long sandy beach is lined with umbrellas and cabins to relax on a sunny summer day. Laid back cafes and tasty restaurants dot its charming boardwalk. Being a seaside town, a variety of delicious fresh fish is in abundance on menus, which is quite different to many other parts of Germany like Bavaria.

I was really impressed with the sand sculpture exhibition - SANDSKULPTUREN IN TRAVEMÜNDE. Every year, talented sculptors from around the world visit Travemunde to create a new sculptor for the season. This year the theme is movies. Impressive displays cover classics like Pulp Fiction, Star Wars, Indiana Jones and a towering marshmallow man from Ghost Busters. It’s well worth visiting while in Travmunde!

Have you visited Travemunde? If so, what was a highlight for you?

Beautiful Lubeck, Germany is a canal lined UNESCO Beautiful Lubeck, Germany is a canal lined UNESCO World Heritage Site 42 miles northeast of Hamburg, near the Baltic Sea. Founded in 1143, Lubeck was nicknamed “the Queen of the Hanseatic League” during the 14th century - which was a trade network of Northern European towns. Its impressive gothic brick architecture towers into the sky, along with weaving alongside the canals.

Lubeck is reminiscent of a miniature Amsterdam or Hamburg, with so many canals and quirky guild houses. On a beautiful June day, like today, with warm weather in the high 70’s Fahrenheit it’s fantastic for dining al fresco. The energy among many locals, having canal-side picnics with their friends and partners is fantastic. This is also a very bike friendly city - great for staying active.

It’s been a pleasure being here for the German tourism board’s 3rd annual summit on sustainability in travel!

Have you visited Lubeck or is it on your travel radar?

Greece’s Olympian Riviera offers miles of sandy Greece’s Olympian Riviera offers miles of sandy beaches, fantastic accommodation and delicious food not far from the beautiful tree lined archeological site of Olympia, where the ancient Olympics began in 776 BC!

Grecotel Olympia Oasis and Aquapark is a gorgeous 5-star property offering wonderful amenities and services for a family vacation. Swim in one of their many lovely pools or go down to the sea for a dip, or to sun bath. Children love their Aqua Park, packed with a variety of fun waterslides. Their lovely staff embodies the Greek spirit of warm hospitality - “Filoxenia” which translates to “friend to a stranger.”

I was thoroughly impressed with the classical art and design throughout the property. Suites at neighboring Grecotel Mandala Rosa are beautiful adorned, and are especially ideal for luxury travelers.

On-site spa facilities offer massages, steam rooms and saunas. I enjoyed a fantastic massage that left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated!

Also, a big thanks to Stavi at @penguintravelsandtours for the first class tour of the beautiful Ilia region of Greece!

Have you visited the wonderful Peloponnese region of southern Greece, or is it still on your travel list?

Did you know that Austria has a thermal beach? Jus Did you know that Austria has a thermal beach? Just 15 miles (24km) southwest of Vienna, Baden bei Wien’s spa culture has been a popular draw for centuries. Therapeutic relief in an inspiring setting made it a favorite getaway and workplace for famous composers like Beethoven, Mozart and Strauss.

Thermalstrand Lido Baden in Baden is the largest sandy beach in Austria. The art deco facade features a variety of thermal pools, geysers, water slides and diving platforms.

We enjoyed our time at Thermalstrand Baden. Alternate between the cold and warm thermal pools for optimal therapeutic relief, as the practice is great for blood circulation. Along with muscle and injury relief, spending time in thermal pools can aid with problems like anxiety and insomnia.

Baden bei Wien (which translates to “Bathing Near Vienna”) is one of 11 towns that comprise the Great Spa Towns of Europe . They became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2021. The 11 exceptional spa towns span 7 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. The lone representative town of Austria is charming Baden. These @historicthermaltowns are also classified as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe.

We stayed at the At the Park Hotel. Located right along Kurpark, guests can enjoy lovely views of the beautiful park from their balconies. The breakfast is delicious, featuring gourmet items like fresh honeycomb, smoked salmon, prosciutto, freshly baked croissants, breads and pastries. Adjacent to the park, it’s a great setting to enjoy a meal and drink.

We stayed in room 204 at @at_the_park_hotel which commemorates Baden’s place as one of the @greatspatownsofeurope and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The suite features original art and thermal bath memorabilia. Two spacious balconies, one from the living room and one from the bedroom, offer beautiful views overlooking Kurpark and Baden.

There are great thermal spas all over Europe. A fa There are great thermal spas all over Europe. A favorite thermal town of ours is Budapest, Hungary.

Budapest is coined ‘Spa City’ as it is home to more medicinal thermal baths than any other capital city in the world! The impressive Hungarian capital rests atop 123 thermal springs. Roman settlers built the first spa baths, and the tradition continued through the Ottoman occupation.

Budapest is home to 9 large bath houses and an abundance of massage houses. Four of the most popular baths are Szechenyi, Rudas, Gellert and Kiraly.

Rudas is the oldest bath house in Budapest dating back around 450 years! The Szechenyi Baths were built in 1913 and are housed in a stunning Neo-baroque palace (they even have a beer spa there now). We’ve enjoyed soaking in those thermal waters over a few visits to Budapest over the last 20 years!

On our most recent trip to Budapest last year, following our 8 day Danube river cruise with @emeraldcruises, we visited beautiful Gellert Spa.

Situated along the Danube River, Gellert Spa dates to 1918 and is attached to the historic Gellert Hotel. It is the most centrally located of Budapest’s baths, just across the bridge from Central Market.

Do you enjoy visiting thermal baths in Europe? If so, where is a favorite place of yours?

Loutraki is lovely seaside resort town, nestled al Loutraki is lovely seaside resort town, nestled along the Gulf of Corinth, just 81km west of Athens. The town is built atop Thermae Springs, and is a great place in the south of mainland Greece for a getaway.

The 5 star @club_hotel_casino_loutraki is a fantastic place to stay. Luxurious rooms have huge balconies overlooking the stunning property, with sweeping views of the Gulf of Corinth. The infinity pool is gorgeous to cool down on a hot summer day. Along with palm trees, there are olive trees on the property that are over 1,000 years old! 😍

The Loutraki Spa is a state of the art facility. It features huge indoor and outdoors thermal pools, along with a Hammam and sauna. Alternate between the cold and warm thermal waters for maximum therapy, as it helps improve blood circulation! You can also book a relaxing on-site massage. It was a pleasure meeting the mayor of Loutraki, Mr. George Gionis while in town!

Loutraki thermal water is rich in trace elements and minerals and is also used for drinking therapy. Don’t miss the Drinking Therapy Center as it’s a gorgeous facility featuring beautiful tile frescoes!

Nearby, Lake Vouliagmeni is listed by UNESCO as a place of exceptional natural beauty. Have lunch lakeside at the lovely @ypanemaloutraki - bring a towel and your swimsuit and go for a dip before your meal!

Nearby, the sanctuary of Hera is a gorgeous archeological site nestled along the Gulf of Corinth. You can swim in the sea right next to the archeological site! 😍

The famous Battle of Thermopylae was fought in 480 The famous Battle of Thermopylae was fought in 480 BC pitting thousands of invading Persians led by Xerxes I against 300 Spartans led by Leonidas. The story has popularly been retold in films like 300.

Before Leonidas and his 300 men were killed in battle, they bathed in the thermal waters of Thermopylae. The ruins of thermal baths can be seen in many Greek archeological sites dating around 2,500 years!

Swing by the Historical information Center for Thermopylae during a road trip in northern Greece to learn more about the battle. And check out the impressive Memorial of Leonidas and 300 Spartans!

Loutra Pozar is a gorgeous destination in the moun Loutra Pozar is a gorgeous destination in the mountains of northern Greece, near the border of the Republic of North Macedonia!

The natural beauty of the destination- with tall mountains and cascading waterfalls completely surrounds visitors.

The natural thermal waters of Loutra Pozar are fantastic to jump in! Enjoy the warm springs and waterfalls, then jump in the cold water (if you can) and alternate between the two. It’s great for blood circulation!

There are also a variety of indoor pools to enjoy year round at @loutra_almopias - would love to return here someday, maybe in winter to compare experiences!

Loutra Pozar offers a bounty of delicious local Greek dishes in restaurants. Enjoy a great meal at Pozar Restaurant. It offers sweeping views overlooking the thermal springs with delicious food and a very warm staff.

Check out their fantastic market stalls too. The freshness and flavor of items like roasted almonds with paprika and other treats are wonderful.

I enjoyed my stay at Paradosiako Hotel and Restaurant, a short drive from the thermal springs. Their on-site restaurant is fantastic. Be sure to try their roast green peppers with feta cheese! Wonderful to enjoy delicious food during #thermaltravels 💦 @historicthermaltowns @visit_europe
